A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car on a busy main road in Cardiff on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened on Wellington Street in Canton, near the junction with Leckwith Road, at around 2.30pm.
The female pedestrian, who is in her 50s, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff by ambulance.
The road was initially by South Wales Police to allow the Wales Air Ambulance to land but the crew was stood down en-route.
A police spokesman said: “Emergency services have this afternoon attended a road traffic collision involving a female pedestrian and a car on Wellington Street, Riverside.
“It happened just before 2.30pm near the junction with Leckwith Road.
“One woman has been injured and has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Her family have been contacted.”
A spokesman for the Wales Air Ambulance service confirmed the crew had been mobilised but were called back before they reached the scene.
The road was closed for around two hours causing congestion on Lansdowne Road and Cowbridge Road East.
The road reopened just after 4.30pm and police stayed at the scene for some time to direct traffic.
Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, but has not yet given an account to police, to make contact. Officers would also like to hear from anyone who has dash-cam, mobile phone or CCTV footage which could assist the investigation.
