Selling Sunset cast to share skincare secrets with Welsh podcast star

Scott McGlynn is best known for his hit podcast series The Scott McGlynn Show which has included the likes of Perez Hilton and RuPaul’s Drag Race stars.

Now the 33-year-old from Cardiff is launching a new series which focuses on celebrity skincare – and features the cast of one of the hottest reality shows of the moment.

Selling Sunset is the hit Netflix show about real estate agents in Los Angeles who are selling the dream. Scott’s new podcast, Celebrity Skin Talk, also features the casts of Below Deck and The Real Housewives of Cheshire.

“I wanted to create something so people could watch people that they know and hear about their story and things that they suffer from,” said Scott, who has amassed more than 200,000 followers on his Instagram page.

“People see Instagram as this perfect world with perfect lives, which it really isn’t, and that’s something that I wanted to get across.”

Speaking openly about his struggle with acne this year, Scott has received dozens of messages from people asking for advice.

“I thought I had to do something with this, so I brought celebrities together to talk about their problems and where they could share their beauty tricks or share products they use,” Scott added.

“When I spoke about my skin this year, I had a lot of people get in touch with me.

“It’s not always amazing, some people have problems such as oily skin or acne. It’s not always as glamorous as people think.”

Creating a skincare blog for men three years ago, Scott has suffered from acne in the past and understands how skin problems can make people extremely self-conscious.

When he was growing up in the late ’90s, Scott was the victim of bullying due to his acne and sexuality.

Finding it hard to go out and head to shops in search of products, Scott relied on his mum.

“It was very women-marketed back then – you had to go to the women’s section to get stuff specifically for your face,” he added.

“Being in a women’s skincare aisle I used to think ‘am I allowed to even be in here?’. I spoke to my mum and she started buying me some skincare products.”

Praised for his openness about his own experiences, Scott was named as a Neutrogena ‘skinsider’ ambassador in 2019.

Scott’s Celebrity Skin Talk series is available to watch on his Instagram page.
