New Mass Vaccination Centre to open at former Toys R Us store

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board will be opening a fourth Mass Vaccination Centre as part of its Mass Vaccination programme to protect its adult population from Covid 19 as quickly as possible. The Health Board is working in partnership with Cardiff Council and Vale of Glamorgan Council to increase capacity for vaccinations and the new Bayside MVC will enable additional capacity of up to 2,500 vaccines per day, which will be dependent on vaccine supply. Children’s mental health project to be trialled in Welsh schools

A pioneering project to support the mental health of children and young people, who may have suffered adverse childhood experiences, is being piloted in Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan. The Resilience Project is an 18-month initiative that is being rolled out in primary and secondary schools led by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, in partnership with Mental Health Foundation, as part of the Welsh Government’s A Healthier Wales vision for a seamless health and social care sector. Care homes across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan reaches vaccination milestone

Every resident and staff member in care homes across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan has received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. Just 23 days after Cardiff and Vale University Health Board started their vaccination programme for care homes, a total of 3,485 employees and 1,609 residents received their first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Every Cardiff and Vale GP Practice now Offering COVID-19 Vaccine

GP practices throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan are now offering COVID-19 vaccinations to priority groups in the community. All 60 practices across the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board area are inviting residents aged 80 and over to receive the vaccination at the local practice, with those over 75 due to also be invited shortly. 150,000 miles of patient travel prevented by video consultations

More than 150,000 miles of travel to hospital has been avoided in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan following the introduction of video consultations. The number of journeys to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board hospitals has decreased considerably since the introduction of the NHS Wales Video Consultation service in April. The popular service enables patients to attend their hospital appointment via video from the comfort of their own home or without having to leave work. Rookwood Sound receives lottery grant
