High streets across Wales were busy with bargain hunters today as retailers launched their Black Friday sales.
But across the bridge, things looked a little bit different with England still in its fire-break lockdown.
The comparison was stark and retail parks on the English side of the border were pictured completely empty.
Brighton high street was just one eerie reminder of Wales’ fire-break lockdown.
In Cardiff and Swansea the main high streets were full of shoppers queuing outside stores which were advertising discounts of up to 50% off.
Police in the capital city were worried about people crossing the border to take advantage of the sales, and have extra powers throughout the weekend to carry out random car checks to ensure no coronavirus rules are being breached.
